LONDON(UK newspaper):A group of British doctors has warned a large number of people are taking Viagra, which is used by millions of men worldwide to help relieve erectile dysfunction.
Men suffering from erectile dysfunction were advised to take a Viagra-style supplement known asViagra Connect.
Dr Sarah Thompson, aBritish Medical Journalistspecialist on sexual health, was quoted in the London newspaper as saying some people have taken Viagra to treat their erectile dysfunction.
The report said: "The most common side effect reported is difficulty getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex, which can cause or worsen erectile dysfunction.
"Many of the people who were taking the product had symptoms such as a loss of interest in sex, inability to have an orgasm, difficulty with achieving an erection, or difficulty keeping an erection firm enough for sex.
"Many of these symptoms were associated with the use of the product for a long time, which can have a negative impact on the patient."
The report added: "For some, the problem is not just erectile dysfunction, but also a sexual health condition where there is the potential for both performance anxiety and problems with sexual function.
"The use of Viagra Connect is not a cure, but it can help many men suffering from erectile dysfunction, and help to alleviate the symptoms of a physical issue."
The Viagra Connect product is a prescription-only treatment for erectile dysfunction.
